Section 144 Imposed Across Balochistan for 30 Days

The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 throughout the province for a period of 30 days. According to a Home Department notification, the restrictions include a ban on the display, carrying, possession or use of weapons in public places except where authorised by law. Gatherings of five or more people, including sit-ins, rallies, processions and demonstrations, have also been prohibited. The order additionally restricts covering or concealing the face in public places where it prevents identification. The government said the decision followed reports indicating possible activities or gatherings that could adversely affect public order and the safety and security of citizens. District administrations and law-enforcement agencies have been directed to enforce the restrictions.
